Log 20, Pinneris. The ocean coast is a strange sight. Despite being further out on the poles it’s one of the coldest areas so far. This ocean is fresh water and harbors a variety of life despite the temperature. The first creature met me. I was analyzing the water when a creature jumped onto the ice next to me and started slapping its tail on the ground with a loud smack. I call this species the pinneris. They are semiaquatic lifeforms that fall under the same genus as tree snatchers, the Orindo genus as I’ve dubbed it. Pinneris are very friendly and curious creatures that prey on small fish and use blubber to keep warm. Skeletal analysis indicates that this species was once terrestrial as fingers can be seen making up the fins. Said fins provide the pinneris with high speed and agility when underwater. The kind nature of these creatures indicates that they are either high up in the food chain or that there isn’t any large predator in this area. That’s a good thing, I wouldn’t want to see these cute things getting killed. I’ll spend some time documenting this frozen coast to see what kind of creatures have evolved here.
