THE ARTIFACT

The Gigacho-12 are giant sentient viruses that inhabit the corpse of the megacellular organism Mourning. Being Virus's their anatomy is very basic, three organelles make up parts of the brain and one contains genetic information. They see via the envelope reacting to light and communicate through touch. The species comes in different strands but the differences aren't notable. The species has immense knowledge on manipulating organic life since the only resources they had was the body of Mourning. They were an immense help for humanity's research in biotechnology. This connection to humans allowed them to explore the cosmos where their knowledge on biological life could be useful, most occupy medical jobs within their galaxy. The species has little to no sense of individualism due to them preforming mitosis. When every one is a near exact copy of you there's no real since of self. Even things like memories are duplicated albeit foggy though. They don't even go by names seeing them as useless. Mitosis must be done on the planet due to how specific the conditions for this species survival is. Mitosis is only something that must be done in their early years; as they age and their body weakens the need for mitosis fades. Mitosis happens once every 5 years for an individual. Few do have individuality, although those few leave the planet and rarely return.
