THE ARTIFACT

The Fungal are a species of mobile and intelligent fungi that decompose and drain corpses of nutrients. They’re comprised of trillions of strong flexible fibers that all act as nerve endings, this makes their body squishy despite their large stature. They see via reflective bulbs in their hood, the number of these bulbs’ changes depending on the individual. Their hands are large muscular suction cups with many roots making their hand their primary feeding location. While they have a strong grip their hands aren’t very dexterous, this doesn’t bother the fungal much though as they have almost no technology. The fungal spend their days by grouping up and sitting in circles, while it might look like they’re sleeping in reality they’re connecting the too flora around them, feeling their sensations, directing nutrients, and keeping an eye on their floral neighbors. They act as peacekeepers on their planet with their forest being a common spot for warring kingdoms to meet and discuss treaties. They created laws on what weapons are and aren’t allowed during any wars the florambula have, the largest of these war crimes is the use of fire or explosives. The reason is that the fungal say it causes too much destruction and pain for the land and the consequences for not following these laws are severe. The first and last kingdom to use explosives in a war had its crops killed, and its people drained. While the fungal are made out to be boogeymen and monsters for most florambula the sub-species floro-scariest are close allies to them as they both are decomposers with many floro-scariest either living with or being married to a fungal.
