THE ARTIFACT

The species Florambula is a race of intelligent flora that is divided into multiple sub species. There are eight common subspecies and over a dozen more within royal families. Royal subspecies are very small in numbers though with the only members being that of the royal family. Florambula's go through many changes in their early years, growing from the chest as the body develops around the brain, at first their blind since their still buds but gain sight a month later once they start blooming. Three specialized pedals on the face act as eyes by reacting to light levels. Despite having great photosynthesis via the skin the species makes a multitude of drinks that provide extra energy and resources to the body, these drinks are absorbed through special roots in the abdomen. The inside of a Floro Conquist is a mass of small tubes and fluids. Liquid is pushed through these tubes which allows this species movement. The pedals on a Floro Conquist are used as a form of fashion in their society with the person having the prettier pedals being seen as more attractive. As they age the pedals become large and dull making them an ugly nuisance, this causes many elders to get their pedals cut regularly. The species has had a long history of wars and land disputes due to them evolving from territorial flora. A total of 9 world wars were present in their history. A Florambula is hard to kill with the head and torso being the main weak points, couple that with a monarchies and you'll have long wars of senseless fighting. Weapons like Bombs were also banned in warfare by the neighboring species the Fungal making the wars drag out even longer. Luckily the colonization of other planets and the meeting of alien races with more powerful weapons quelled the warfare in the species. However a criminal organization made up of Florambulas has been causing trouble through out the galaxy. Big enough to be problematic but small enough to not draw in the big guys.
